THE HAPPY CART, our unique Free Vegan Food Program (created in partnership with People’s Place , and with critical volunteer support from NY Farm Animal Save) returns to the streets of Kingston NY on May 11th, 2022. We are so excited to be back after a long winter.
The Happy Cart, with it’s bright signs and “education station” will be back serving up vegan whole-and-healthy comfort foods EVERY Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm (barring extreme weather days). Our Instagram page (@happycartvegan) is the place to head for weekly updates and we’ll try to keep posts going here as well. The website created specifically for the program is www.happyvegancart.org.
The Cart is there to serve community no matter who you are, no questions asked. Food is served to-go and there is free literature of all kinds at our Education Station set up next to the cart.

LANTERN PUBLISHING AND MEDIA supplies the cart each week with a selection of fantastic free vegan and health-themed books! Books are available on a first-come first-served basis while supplies last. We are so thrilled to be able to offer so many coveted and inspiring titles to cart visitors, that will feed minds and souls with supportive inspiration, while the food from the cart aims to fill stomachs.
EARTH BREEZE is an amazing company that provides the Happy Cart program with free packages of their fully vegan, earth-friendly and plastic-free laundry detergent sheets to give away to cart visitors every week! Earth Breeze also donates free packages of their amazing detergent to this animal rescue as we have tons of laundry to do each week, and this product really helps us walk the green walk at IFAH and lightens our loads. For Happy Cart visitors who experience a lot of vulnerability in their living situations, the hope is this is one less thing people have to lug around: one small thin paper package of Earth Breeze is good for doing 60 loads of laundry! And it empowers those who use it to enjoy clean clothes and bedding, while taking an active role in reducing pollution of our land and water. Thank you Earth Breeze!
And Thank you to V-DOG! Because the Happy Cart’s mission is to celebrate and support all living beings, we are proud to partner with V-Dog and offer free samples of their amazing plant-based and healthy dog food to Happy Cart visitors with canine family members (dogs are omnivores and actually LOVE plants and chomping on carrots, sweet potatoes, kale stems and more. V-Dog’s formula 100% covers canine nutritional needs and is a really healthy boost for any pup.)
