Each one an Individual.
Meet the people* who are currently in residence (Updated 11/24)
As a small microsanctuary with a focus on disabled farmed birds who require specialized and often-challenging detailed care, the population here is carefully managed so we can keep providing the ethical conditions and standards that we feel are necessary for everyone here to thrive, not just survive.
If you know of a bird in need, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email. You can also message us via Instagram (link at bottom of page).
If we don’t have space, we always aim to assist where possible by sharing info and resources,
and sometimes we can even help with veterinary costs or finding foster/new homes.
(*we use the general “people” wherever possible, to counter the speciesism imbedded in language that reinforces negative attitudes towards non-humans.)
In Memoriam
Below, some of the individuals whom we have had the profound honor of caring for. We are thankful for our local veterinarians who really try to work with us to make sure everyone has access to any medical care options that exist. It is impossible to list here the numerous biological and environmental challenges these souls face, due to their over-domestication and commodification, the lack of rights they are afforded, and the cruelty they endure previous to getting here. We fall in love with each and every one of them. Thank you for supporting this work so that more have the option of dignified, loving care.
Others in Memoriam, who we did our best to help but whose time with us
was heart-breakingly brief, due to the extreme medical challenges they faced:
